29-Year-Old Bicyclist Dies after Struck by DUI Driver on Lone Tree Way in Antioch
ANTIOCH, CA (July 28, 2024) – A woman was killed in a DUI crash on Lone Tree Way in Antioch early Saturday morning on July 27.
The fatal crash happened around 12:10 a.m. at the intersection with Sagebrush Drive. According to the Antioch Police Department, the 29-year-old woman was riding a bicycle when she was struck by a vehicle, driven by a suspected drunk driver.
Responding officers found the woman in critical condition. They rendered aid to her until Con Fire arrived at the scene.
Despite life-saving efforts, the woman did not survive and was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
The involved driver, a 38-year-old man, stayed on scene and cooperated with police.
Alcohol was suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash. Police arrested the driver for DUI causing serious bodily injury or death.
