Woman Critically Injured in Pursuit Accident on Gettysburg Avenue and First Avenue
FRESNO, CA (November 29, 2022) — A woman suffered injuries in a pursuit crash on Gettysburg Avenue on Tuesday, November 22.
According to reports, detectives were watching the man related to a violent crime at around 8 a.m. on Gettysburg Avenue and First Avenue.
Detectives in unmarked vehicles turned their lights on headed to arrest him. The man went in a Ford truck and drove off with the gas nozzle still in the car.
The truck, which officials determined to be stolen, hit multiple unmarked police vehicles. It also struck a civilian car as the man sped off. The pursuit went on into a neighborhood, where the truck hit a Honda sedan and a parked Ford SUV. The man fled on foot before detectives arrested him.
Officers found the female passenger in the truck unconscious in the front yard. They said that the collision may have ejected her.
Medics rushed her to Community Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
The man had minor injuries. Officers arrested him on suspicion of felony evasion and assault on an officer.
