Female Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Car on West Mission Bay Drive

 
MISSION BAY, CA (April 6, 2022) – A woman died after hit by a car on West Mission Bay Drive, late Monday evening.
 
The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. on April 4 near Sea World Drive. According to the San Diego Police Department, the woman was attempting to cross the street when she walked into the path of an oncoming traffic.
 
The first car swerved and missed the pedestrian, but the second car struck her.
 
After striking the victim, the 17-year-old driver crashed into the center median and her vehicle overturned.
 
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. She was not yet identified. Police described her as someone between 25 to 35 years old.
 
Meanwhile, the teen driver was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
 
Police said DUI was not a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
