Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Vehicle Doing Donuts at Street Takeover on Crenshaw Boulevard in South LA

 
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (December 28, 2022) – A woman was fatally struck by a vehicle during a street takeover on Crenshaw Boulevard in the Hyde Park community of South Los Angeles on Christmas night.
 
The fatal crash happened around 9:07 p.m. at Florence Avenue. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, more than a hundred people were gathered in the area, a common meet-up spot for the hyped-up illicit street sideshows where drivers show off by spinning out their cars, racing and doing burnouts that send plumes of smoke rising.
 
The 24-year-old woman was standing at the northeast corner watching along the crowd when a vehicle doing donuts struck her.
 
First responders rushed the woman to a trauma center, where she succumbed to her injuries.
 
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot.
