Car Crashes into Tree on Highway 99 in Sutter County Killing Both Driver and Passenger
SUTTER COUNTY, CA (February 4, 2024) – Two women were killed in a car accident on Highway 99 in Sutter County Friday morning on February 2.
The fatal accident happened around 7:00 a.m., just south of Live Oak Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2014 Honda Accord was traveling in a sweeping left curve lane at a high rate of speed. It then went off the roadway to the right and crashed into a tree.
As a result, both women in the car died at the scene. The driver was a 20-year-old woman, while the passenger was 19 years old. Both were residents of Gridley.
CHP officials said the driver of the car was not wearing a seatbelt, but the passenger was.
Alcohol may have been a factor in this crash, but it has not yet been confirmed. Further investigation is underway.
