Two-Vehicle Accident on Highway 70 in Yuba County Kills 20-Year-Old Driver and 17-Year-Old Passenger

 
YUBA COUNTY, CA (May 5, 2021) – Two people died in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 70 in Yuba County Tuesday, May 4.
 
The accident happened around noon, just south of Olivehurst Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 20-year-old driver and a 17-year-old passenger were heading northbound in a 1997 Honda Prelude.
 
CHP said the Prelude approached the rear of a Lincoln Navigator before veering onto the east shoulder. The left side of the Prelude then struck the right side of the Navigator. The impact caused the Prelude to veer back onto the road. It then lost control, veered onto the shoulder, hit a tree and came to a stop at the railroad tracks.
 
As a result, both the driver and passenger of the Prelude suffered fatal blunt force injuries and died at the scene. Both were Olivehurst residents. The coroner’s office withheld their identities at this time.
 
The driver of the Navigator, identified as 56-year-old Ron Walline, was not injured.
 
The crash report indicates all three involved parties were wearing seat belts.
 
An investigation into this accident is ongoing.
