Head-On Accident on Highway 65 in Bakersfield Kills Two Drivers and Seriously Injures One Passenger

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 25, 2021) – Two people were killed in a head-on accident on Highway 65 in Bakersfield Saturday afternoon.
 
The accident happened just after 1:00 p.m. on July 24, near Burbank Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Dodge caravan was heading southbound on the highway when it drifted into the northbound lane for unknown reasons. It then collided head-on with a Chevrolet Suburban.
 
As a result, both drivers died at the scene. They were not yet identified.
 
Meanwhile, a passenger in the Suburban suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital.
 
Crews closed the roadways for about two to three hours while they cleared the wreckage.
 
The cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
