Fiery Crash Involving 3 Vehicles on 15 Freeway in Cajon Pass Leaves 2 People Dead

 
CAJON PASS, CA (June 29, 2023) – Two people died in a fiery three-vehicle accident on 15 Freeway in the Cajon Pass early Monday morning on June 26.
 
The fatal accident happened around 3:49 a.m. about a mile after the Kenwood Avenue exit. According to the CHP, a white Toyota Highlander and a Nissan Versa collided in a dark area of the freeway. The impact of the initial crash involved a black Buick Verano.
 
The driver of the Buick was unable to see the Nissan that was stop in the traffic lanes. The Buick rear-ended the Nissan, causing it to burst into flames.
 
San Bernardino Fire Department responded and located the Toyota with front-end damage, the Nissan with major rear-end damage, and the Buick with major front-end damage.
 
Two people died at the scene. Authorities withheld their identities pending next of kin notification.
 
One person sustained minor to major injuries with a shoulder injury.
 
The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
