Fresno DUI Crash on Highway 99 Kills 2, Including 18-Year-Old Woman
FRESNO, CA (September 5, 2022) – Two young adults were killed in a DUI accident on Highway 99 in Fresno early Saturday morning, September 3.
The accident happened just before 5:00 a.m. near McKinley Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 21-year-old man in a 2015 Hyundai made an unsafe lane change that caused its right, rear of the vehicle to collide with the left, front of a 2001 Mitsubishi.
The Mitsubishi was driven by a 20-year-old man with his 18-year-old female passenger.
The impact of the crash caused both vehicles to lose control and veer down an embankment. The Mitsubishi struck a tree, which ended up getting uprooted. The Hyundai crashed into a fence and rested in a field.
Both the driver and the passenger of the Mitsubishi died at the scene.
Meanwhile, paramedics took the driver of the Hyundai to Fresno Community Regional Medical Center with unspecified injuries. Police later arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence.
At this time, an investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing.
