Pedestrian Crossing on South Union Avenue in Bakersfield Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (September 5, 2022) – A man died in a pedestrian hit-and-run crash on South Union Avenue in Bakersfield early Saturday morning, September 3.
 
Just before 3:15 a.m., the Bakersfield Police Department officers responded to the 7300 block of South Union Avenue after receiving a report of a male pedestrian crossing on the roadway and was struck by a vehicle.
 
Whey they arrived, they found the man in the roadway suffering from major injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, the man died at the scene.
 
The Kern County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity at a later time.
 
Police described the suspect vehicle as a dark-colored sedan. It drove away after the crash.
