Accident Involving Patrol Vehicle on Ming Avenue in Bakersfield Leaves 2 People Hurt

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 16, 2022) – Two people were injured in a traffic accident involving a patrol vehicle at Ming Avenue and Buena Vista Road on Thursday morning, May 12.
 
The accident happened around 8:21 p.m. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, an officer responding to an emergency crashed his patrol vehicle into a white sedan, driven by a 17-year-old boy.
 
As a result of the crash, the teen driver suffered moderate injuries. The officer had minor injuries.
 
Paramedics transported the two to a hospital for proper treatment.
 
During the preliminary investigation, the officer was responding with his lights and siren activated while traveling eastbound through the intersection on a red light. He then struck the oncoming sedan, which was traveling through the intersection on a green light.
 
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
