Lanes Closed, 2 Big Rigs Collide on 5 Freeway in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 8, 2023) — Police officers closed several lanes after two semi-trucks crashed on the 5 Freeway near Grapevine Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the truck accident happened around 1:37 p.m. Wednesday. For an unknown reason, two semi-trucks crashed on the northbound 5 Freeway. As a result, at least one of the trucks caught on fire.
CHP officers responded to the scene to investigate the accident. Meanwhile, firefighters put out the truck fire as crews closed two slow lanes for cleanup and the investigation.
Motorists faced heavy traffic until 7:15 p.m. when several lanes reopened. At this time traffic reports did not say what led to the accident or if anyone reported any injuries.
