Early Morning Fiery Crash on 5 Freeway in Boyle Heights Leaves 3 People Dead

 
BOYLE HEIGHTS, CA (February 26, 2024) – Three people were killed in a fiery accident on 5 Freeway in Boyle Heights early Sunday morning on February 25.
 
The fatal accident happened around 2:45 a.m. near the Calzona Street off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, a black SUV was traveling northbound on the freeway when it struck the right shoulder wall and burst into flames.
 
Responding firefighters extinguished the flames before they spread to the home and nearby trees.
 
Three people in the car were pronounced dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office withheld their identities at this time.
 
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
