Multi-Vehicle Pileup on 101 Freeway in Ventura Kills Santa Barbara Man

 
VENTURA, CA (February 26, 2024) – Guillermo Soto was killed in a multi-vehicle pileup in Ventura Sunday afternoon on February 25.
 
The fatal crash happened around 12:55 p.m. on the southbound 101 Freeway, just north of Seacliff. According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, a car struck a vehicle that stopped because of the traffic backup. The impact caused a multi-vehicle pileup involving five vehicles that rear-ended each other.
 
The driver of that first car did not stop.
 
Soto, a 40-year-old Santa Barbara man, suffered significant injuries from the crash. He was airlifted to Ventura County Medical Center, where he later died.
 
CHP officers on-site also reported that at least one person sustained a severe leg injury.
