Three Injured, Carlos Delara Arrested in Head-On Accident on Highway 12 [Santa Rosa, CA]

Head-On Crash on Highway 12 in Santa Rosa Sends Three People to Hospital

 
SANTA ROSA, CA (March 26, 2024) – Three people were injured in a head-on accident on Highway 12 in Santa Rosa Saturday night on March 23.
 
The accident happened around 6:05 p.m. on the highway overpass, just south of intersection of Stoney Point Road and Occidental Road. According to the Santa Rosa Police Department, 18-year-old Carlos Delara of Santa Rosa was recklessly driving in a white Infiniti sedan. He was reportedly following a white Mercedes-Benz and tried to run it off the road.
 
Both cars were traveling south on Stoney Point Road when the Infiniti lost control. It then crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a northbound Honda CR-V.
 
The impact of the crash caused the Infiniti to burst into flames.
 
Two 16-year-old female passengers of the Infiniti were injured. One of them was unconscious and suffered a moderate head injury. The other sustained minor injuries.

The driver of the Honda, a 70-year-old Larkfield resident, suffered life-threatening injuries.

Police said the two female teens are believed to be relatives of Delara.

Police arrested Delara and booked him into Sonoma County Jail on two counts of felony reckless driving causing injury and two counts of felony child endangerment.
