Teenage Boy Riding Scooter Dies after Struck by SUV on Palmdale Boulevard

 
PALMDALE, CA (March 7, 2023) – A teenage boy was killed in a scooter accident on Palmdale Boulevard Sunday evening on March 5.
 
The fatal accident happened around 7:19 p.m. at 80th Street East. According to the California Highway Patrol, the victim was riding his kick scooter eastbound in the middle of the westbound lane of Palmdale Boulevard when a westbound white Toyota Rav4 struck him.
 
Responding paramedics rushed the boy to Antelope Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:19 p.m.
 
Video showed the compact SUV with damage to its hood and windshield and the scooter in the street.
 
A news videographer at the scene said there are no street lights along Palmdale Boulevard in that area.
 
An investigation into this fatality is underway.
