Police Arrest Marquis Johnson after Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in Sacramento

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (July 26, 2022) – A 17-year-old boy died and police arrested Marquis Leon Johnson after a hit-and-run crash in Sacramento on Saturday afternoon, July 23.
 
The fatal crash happened around 3:00 p.m. along Stockton Boulevard near McMahon Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 29-year-old suspect was driving a white Toyota Rav4 SUV at a high rate of speed. He failed to stop at a red light and hit a sedan that was making a left turn to McMahon Drive.
 
The impact caused the sedan to hit three pedestrians who were on the sidewalk. One pedestrian, the unidentified male teen, died at the scene. The two others, both women ages 33 and 56, suffered moderate to major injuries.
 
The driver of the sedan, an 83-year-old woman, had minor injuries.
 
Meanwhile, Johnson got out of the SUV and ran away. Police later arrested him and booked him into the Sacramento Main Jail.
 
An investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing.
