Police Arrest Jaden Steed for DUI after Crash in Santa Rosa Killing One Passenger and Seriously Injuring Two Others
SANTA ROSA, CA (October 15, 2023) – A 17-year-old girl died and Jaden Pruett Steed was arrested in a DUI crash in Santa Rosa Friday evening on October 13.
The fatal crash happened around 10:00 p.m. in the 5100 block of Montgomery Drive. According to the Santa Rosa Police Department, the 21-year-old suspect from Santa Rosa was speeding when his car left the roadway during a slight curve.
The car then overturned several times, plunged into a creek and caught fire.
The female teen passenger, who was seated in the right rear seat of the car, died at the scene.
Paramedics rushed two male passengers, aged 17 and 19, to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The older passenger was then airlifted to a burn center for additional care.
Authorities found Steed to have blood alcohol content of .11%, a level .03% higher than the legal limit. They arrested him and booked him into jail for DUI causing injury and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
