Lake County DUI Crash on Nice-Lucerne Cutoff Kills Man, Steven Pruitt Arrested
LAKE COUNTY, CA (September 23, 2021) – Police arrested Steven Michael Pruitt after a fatal DUI crash in Lake County Wednesday morning.
The accident happened around 7:26 a.m. on September 22, on the Nice-Lucerne Cutoff just west of the Rodman Slough. According to the CHP, the 35-year-old suspect from Lakeport was driving a dark blue Chevrolet Camaro westbound on the Nice-Lucerne Cutoff. Another driver was heading eastbound in a light green Honda Civic.
For unknown reasons, Pruitt allowed his Camaro to cross over into the opposing lane over the solid double yellow lines, where it collided head-on with the Honda.
The Northshore Fire Protection District personnel pronounced the Honda’s male driver dead at the scene.
During the investigation, police determined that Pruitt was under the influence of drugs an placed him under arrest. They booked him at the Lake County Jail.
Pruitt’s bail is set at $1 million. He is due to appear in Lake County Superior Court for arraignment on Friday.
