Deputy Arrests Stephen Barrientos for DUI after Drunk Driving with Kids in Car in Apple Valley
APPLE VALLEY, CA (April 15, 2024) – Stephen Barrientos was arrested in a DUI crash in Apple Valley Monday evening on April 8.
The crash happened around 9:50 p.m. near Bear Valley Road and Quinnault Road. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the 23-year-old suspect from Hesperia was driving erratically with two young children in his car.
The car was swerving between several lanes of traffic and driving on the dirt shoulder of the roadway.
A deputy pulled the car over and determined that Barrientos was under the influence of alcohol. He also had his two children, ages 3 and 5, in the back seat of the vehicle without child safety seats or seat belts.
The deputy arrested Barrientos on charges of DUI and child abuse with the possibility of great bodily injury. Bail was set at $70,000.
Meanwhile, the children were released to the custody of a family member.
