BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 2, 2023) — Stefanie Zavaleta faces charges in a DUI wrong-way accident on California Avenue near Belle Terrace.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the multi-vehicle crash happened on February 24. For DUI-related reasons, 43-year-old Zavaleta drove her vehicle in the wrong direction. Deputies saw her wrong-way car traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of California Avenue around 2:20 p.m. Her vehicle subsequently hit two cars near the Belle Terrace area.
 
Shortly after, officers found the Bakersfield woman traveling in the right direction on Highway 99 South and arrested her.
