Silvano Villarreal Detained in Hit-and-Run Crash, Big Rig Police Pursuit near East Avenue and Santa Fe Avenue

 
TURLOCK, CA (February 9, 2023) — Silvano Villarreal was arrested in a hit-and-run and big rig police chase near East Avenue and Santa Fe Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 9:00 a.m. Saturday. Silvano Villarreal reportedly struck another vehicle near East Avenue and Santa Fe Avenue but failed to stop at the scene of the crash. Although the hit-and-run crash left no one injured, the event spiraled out of control as Villareal led police on a police pursuit.
 
The 47-year-old Tracy man drove the big ring on Highway 99 South at the posted speed limit. As he crossed the Merced and Madera county lines, CHP officers placed spike strips to stop the big rig, which blew out the tires, but Villarreal was able to continue.
 
At the Robertson Road exit, however, the three-axle Freightliner hauling vehicles came to a stop on the center median where police arrested Villarreal on suspicion of hit-and-run and evading a peace officer.
 
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factored in the accident, but an ongoing investigation will confirm more details.
