Rider Dies in Motorcycle Accident on Highway 99 in Modesto
MODESTO, CA (June 19, 2023) — A rider died in a motorcycle crash on Highway 99 near Carpenter Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal multi-vehicle crash happened around 4:05 p.m. Friday. For an unknown reason, a 40-year-old motorcyclist operating a Yamaha crashed into the back of a northbound Dodge. As a result of the impact, the motorcyclist was ejected from his bike and landed in the No. 2 lane.
Subsequently, an oncoming 2016 Freightliner ran over the motorcycle rider, who authorities say was wearing a helmet at the time of impact.
Shortly after, paramedics arrived and ushered the motorcyclist to Doctors Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
Traffic investigators do not know if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the accident, but an investigation into the details should confirm the liabilities.
