Two Hospitalized after Motorcycle Crash on 5 Freeway in Del Mar
DEL MAR, CA (September 13, 2021) – A rider and a CHP officer sustained injuries in a motorcycle crash on 5 Freeway on August 31.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Lomas Santa Fe Drive around 4:20 PM.
Based on reports, the officer had just finished removing a ladder from the roadway prior to the crash. Then, the 61-year-old motorcyclist veered to the left and collided with the center divider wall. Subsequently, the impact ejected the rider who then hit the officer who was returning to his vehicle.
As a result, the CHP officer sustained minor to moderate injuries while the motorcyclist sustained major injuries. Paramedics transported both victims to the hospital for treatment.
