Moped Rider Reade Childres Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Leimert Park

 
LEIMERT PARK, CA (April 12, 2021)Reade Torrance Childres was killed in a hit-and-run earlier this month in Leimert Park.
 
The incident happened around 2:35 p.m. on April 1 along Crenshaw Boulevard near Westmont Avenue. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Childres was on a moped when a black Ford Flex traveling southbound struck the back of his moped. The Ford driver then fled the scene.
 
As a result, the 55-year-old moped rider suffered major injuries. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he died two days later.
 
Investigators canvassed the area of the crash site and have since released the surveillance video of the suspect fleeing the scene.
 
Police are offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the identity, arrest and conviction of the suspect.
