Pedestrian Killed, Jake Wolden Arrested in Hit-and-Run Crash on West Main Street [Barstow, CA]

Police Arrest Hit-and-Run Suspect after Fatally Striking Pedestrian on West Main Street in Barstow

 
BARSTOW, CA (January 28, 2024) – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash on West Main Street in Barstow Monday night on January 22.
 
According to the Barstow Police Department, 31-year-old Jake Allen Wolden of Barstow was driving a vehicle when he struck the pedestrian in the 2500 block of West Main Street around 6:32 p.m.
 
After striking the victim, Wolden fled the scene without rendering aid.
 
First responders found the male pedestrian lying in the roadway. They attempted saving him, but the victim died at the scene.
 
The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Department’s Coroner Division withheld the victim’s identity at this time.
 
Around 10:40 a.m. the following day, Wolden arrived at the police department to report that he was the driver responsible for the hit-and-run.

Officers conducted a search warrant at Wolden’s residence, where additional evidence was located connecting him to the crash. They arrested him and booked him at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.

Wolden was released on bail on Wednesday.
