Man Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Belmont Avenue in Central Fresno
FRESNO, CA (July 18, 2022) – A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash at Belmont Avenue and North First Street in central Fresno on Saturday evening.
The fatal crash happened just before midnight on July 16. According to the Fresno Police Department, the pedestrian was walking north in the eastbound lane of Belmont Avenue when a vehicle struck him.
The driver who hit him kept on going, making a U-turn at Fisher Avenue and then heading down Belmont Avenue to make a turn northward on Second Street.
When officers arrived, they found the victim, a man possibly in his 50s, lying in the road. They pronounced him dead at the scene.
Police described the suspect vehicle as a white-colored Chevrolet truck with an extended cab, slightly lowered pickup, with black-colored rims.
At this time, the hit-and-run suspect remains at large. Police are still investigating.
