Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Driver on Cajalco Road in Mead Valley

 
MEAD VALLEY, CA (July 17, 2023) — A pedestrian hit by a car on Cajalco Road near Florence Street Thursday died.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly pedestrian accident occurred around 5:00 a.m. For an unknown reason, a pedestrian, believed to be a transient, stepped onto Cajalco Road. As a result, the man walked into the path of an oncoming Toyota pickup truck, which subsequently struck him.
 
Although the driver escaped injury, the pedestrian suffered major injuries and died in the accident.
 
Responding traffic investigators canvassed the scene for clues as to what led to the accident. Although the pickup truck driver was questioned, police did not arrest him.
