SUNLAND, CA (September 4, 2024) — A pedestrian hit by a car died on the 5 Freeway near Sunland Boulevard Sunday night.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly pedestrian accident happened around 10:55 p.m. Authorities could not provide information on what led to the fatal pedestrian accident.
 
For an unknown reason, an unidentified driver struck the man on the Golden State Freeway. Subsequently, authorities responded shortly thereafter to confirm one fatality. Due to the crash, CHP issued a SigAlert, closing the southbound No. 2,3 and 4 lanes. By 3:15 a.m., officials reopened the freeway.
