Car Crashes into Trees on Chico River Road Injuring Passenger, Driver Flees Scene

 
CHICO, CA (March 25, 2024) – A passenger was hurt in a hit-and-run crash on Chico River Road at Lone Pine Avenue in Chico early Monday morning.
 
The crash happened around 2:15 a.m. on March 25. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Nissan Altima was heading west on Chico River when it ran off the roadway and slammed into a couple of trees in an orchard.
 
The driver of the car then ran off, leaving their passenger behind.
 
Responding paramedics took the passenger of the car to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
 
At this time, officers are still trying to track down the driver.
 
The cause of the crash and factors involved are under investigation.
