One Person Dead after Car Crashes into Tree on 5 Freeway

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (October 27, 2021) — One person died in an accident with a tree on the 5 Freeway near Dairy Mart Road Sunday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 8:41 a.m. Under unclear circumstances, a driver in an unknown make and model drove off the road and struck a tree. Subsequently, the car caught on fire which spread to nearby vegetation.
 
Soon after, firefighters and paramedics responded to extinguish the flames.
 
Emergency personnel pronounced one person dead at the scene and contacted the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office around 9:00 a.m.
 
At this time, the victim’s identity and the ultimate cause of the accident have not been confirmed. Although, any witnesses who hold additional insight should call the CHP.
