Big Rig and Sedan Collide on 80 Freeway in Yerba Buena Island Killing One Person

 
YERBA BUENA ISLAND, CA (April 9, 2023) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle accident on 80 Freeway at the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge early Thursday morning on April 6.
 
The fatal accident happened around 2:00 a.m. at the Treasure Island Road exit. According to the California Highway Patrol, a big rig and a sedan collided along the freeway in unclear circumstances.
 
When officers arrived, they confirmed at least one fatality as a result of the accident. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
The crash blocked all the lanes on the bridge and raised a SigAlert for severe traffic that lasted until all the lanes were opened at 3:30 a.m.
 
An investigation into the accident is underway.
