CAMP PENDLETON, CA (July 18, 2022) – One person died in a two-vehicle accident on 5 Freeway in Camp Pendleton on Saturday afternoon, July 16.
 
The fatal accident happened around 2:09 p.m. along the southbound freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, a minivan and another vehicle collided in unclear circumstances.
 
Bystanders tried to help the driver of the minivan.
 
Responding paramedics performed life-saving measures, but one person died at the scene.
 
At 3:57 p.m., the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the crash site.
 
The exact cause of the crash and factors involved remain under investigation.
