Three-Vehicle Crash on Wheeler Ridge Road in Arvin Leaves 1 Dead

 
ARVIN, CA (November 15, 2023) – One person died in a three-vehicle accident at Wheeler Ridge Road and Herring Road in Arvin on Monday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 3:16 p.m. on November 13. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Ford truck was traveling northbound behind a Chevrolet when it crossed the painted double yellow lines.
 
As the Ford entered the southbound lane to pass the Chevrolet, the driver of the Ford failed to observe the 2015 Freightliner pulling two empty flatbed trailers in the southbound lane.
 
The driver of the Freightliner attempted to avoid the Ford, but the Ford crashed into the front of the Freightliner.
 
The Ford then traveled out of control and crashed into the left side of the Chevrolet.
 
The Chevrolet went off of the roadway and came to rest on the dirt shoulder. The Freightliner came to rest blocking the southbound lane of Wheeler Ridge Road.
 
The Ford truck came to rest in the roadway and caught fire. The driver was pronounced dead. The Kern County Coroner withheld the identity of the deceased at this time.
 
The occupants in the Chevrolet only sustained minor injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Freightliner was unharmed.

It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a factor in this crash. Further investigation is underway.
