One Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash at Alessandro Boulevard and Kitching Street [Moreno Valley, CA]

MoVal Multi-Vehicle Crash on Alessandro Boulevard Stems from Hit-and-Run Killing One Driver

 
MORENO VALLEY, CA (February 16, 2023) – One person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash at Alessandro Boulevard and Kitching Street in Moreno Valley on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The fatal crash happened around 2:00 p.m. on February 14, just east of Perri Boulevard. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, a 2010 Jeep Patriot rear-ended a 2012 Mercedes E350 in the area of Bay Avenue and Perris Boulevard. The Jeep driver sped away from the crash, and the Mercedes driver gave chase.
 
When the Jeep reached the intersection of Alessandro and Kitching, the driver encountered a red traffic signal but failed to stop.
 
At the same time, a 2019 Kia Forte going northbound on Kitching entered the intersection on a green light.
 
The Jeep slammed into the driver’s side of the Kia, which then spun into two other vehicles.
 
First responders found the driver of the Kia suffering from traumatic life- threatening injuries. They rushed him to Riverside University Medical Center, where he died a short time later.
 
The Jeep driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
 
Deputies do not believe any of the drivers involved were intoxicated. Anyone with further information is urged to call the Sheriff’s Department at 951-776-1099.
