Multi-Vehicle Accident on 5 Freeway in Tustin Ends in Fatality

 
TUSTIN, CA (October 10, 2023) – At least one person was killed in a multi-vehicle accident on 5 Freeway in Tustin early Monday morning on October 9.
 
The fatal accident happened around 3:54 a.m., just south of Jamboree Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, five vehicles collided in the northbound lanes of the freeway. The impact caused one of them to catch fire.
 
First responders confirmed at least one fatality as a result of the accident.
 
The name, age and city of residence of the victim were not immediately available.
 
The fiery crash affected the first, second, third and HOV lanes of the freeway. CHP officials issued a SigAlert at 4:10 a.m. for all northbound lanes, with traffic diverted off at Culver Drive in Irvine.
 
At this time, the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.
