Early Morning Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 99 in Madera Ends in Fatality

 
MADERA, CA (August 15, 2022) – One person died in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 99 in Madera early Sunday morning, August 14.
 
The fatal crash happened around 1:45 a.m. near Avenue 16. According to the California Highway Patrol, a white car rear-ended a blue van, causing the van to overturn and then crash into a pole.
 
When officers arrived, they found the car and the van with no one inside either of the vehicles.
 
After searching the area, one man was found dead at the scene. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
A witness told officers they saw several people run away from the scene after the crash.
 
An investigation into this deadly hit-and-run is underway.
