Bicyclist Suffers Serious Injuries after Crashing into Illegally Car Parked in Bike Lane in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 15, 2022) – A 79-year-old man was badly injured in a bicycle accident on Sorrento Valley Road in San Diego on Friday afternoon, August 12.
 
The accident happened around 1:15 p.m. in the 11600 block of Sorrento Valley Road. According to the San Diego Police Department, the man was riding his electronic bicycle when he crashed into a Nissan car that was illegally parked in the southbound bike lane near Torrey Preserve.
 
Paramedics responded and took the man to a nearby hospital for serious injuries, including several fractures.
 
No passengers in the Nissan were injured.
 
It is unknown what caused the man to run into the parked vehicle but officials said DUI is not suspected.
 
Police are still investigating the accident. They asked anyone with further information to contact Officer Heims or the San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
