Two Crashes on 10 Freeway Snarl Traffic in Palm Springs

PALM SPRINGS, CA (October 23, 2022) — Two separate crashes on the 10 Freeway Thursday morning left one person injured in the Palm Springs area.

Based on reports, the first crash occurred at about 6:17 a.m. The California Highway Patrol said a white Volkswagen collided with a big rig near the Gene Autry Trail exit.

The resulting impact forced the Volkswagen to spin out of control before slamming into the guardrail. The car ended up in the second lane of the 10 Freeway.

Additionally, the driver of the Volkswagen fled on foot, leaving behind a passenger stuck inside the vehicle and unable to free themselves. The passenger sustained moderate injuries and received treatment in a hospital.

Meanwhile, the second crash took place at about 7:16 a.m. near the Indian Canyon Drive eastbound exit. While there were no injuries reported, the incident caused delays in traffic in the eastbound lanes.

When behind the wheel, safety should always be your top priority. Do not multi-task and keep your attention on driving at all times. Never drive impaired and do not forget to buckle up for safety. In addition, always drive at safe speeds. Driving too fast for conditions increases the risk of an accident.
