Santa Monica Fiery Accident at Parking Structure on Broadway Involves 4 Vehicles

 
SANTA MONICA, CA (April 5, 2022) – One person was taken to a hospital after a fiery accident on Broadway in Santa Monica on Friday night.
 
The accident happened around 6:25 p.m. on April 1 according to the Santa Monica Fire Department. Firefighters arrived in the 300 block of Broadway and found heavy smoke coming from a parking structure.
 
Fire crews suppressed fire on two vehicles that were on fire as a result of a traffic collision. They initially encountered small explosions due to electric batteries inside the cars, but were able to put the fire out in 20 minutes.
 
The drivers in four involved vehicles were able to free themselves safely. Paramedics then transported one person to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
 
At this time, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
