2 Officers Hurt in Wrong-Way Crash on 80 Freeway in Davis

 
DAVIS, CA (March 15, 2024) — Officers were among three people injured in a wrong-way accident on the 80 Freeway near Mace Boulevard.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle crash happened around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday. For an unknown reason, a driver was traveling in the wrong direction on eastbound I-80. Subsequently, the wrong-way vehicle struck a California Highway Patrol cruiser parked on the shoulder that had just finished a traffic stop.
 
Subsequently, paramedics arrived and took the two officers in the patrol car and the other driver to a hospital for minor to moderate injuries.
 
Following the incident, officers closed the No. 3 lane until 5:40 p.m. causing delays on the eastbound highway.
 
Authorities did not specify the leading cause but confirmed that neither alcohol nor drugs factored into the crash.
