Officer Injured in Pursuit Crash near Hollywood Way and Covello Street [Sun Valley, CA]

Pursuit near Burbank Airport in Sun Valley Ends in Crash Injuring Officer

 
SUN VALLEY, CA (October 16, 2023) – An officer was injured in a pursuit crash near Hollywood Way and Covello Street in Sun Valley late Friday afternoon.
 
The short pursuit started around 5:20 p.m. and came to a stop near the intersection, several blocks north of the Hollywood Burbank Airport. The suspect vehicle, a black pickup truck, knocked off a fire hydrant and also crashed into a parked vehicle.
 
Aerial footage showed water spewing into the air from a sheared hydrant.
 
One of the LAPD officers was injured in the crash, although the severity of the injuries was not specified.
 
Officers later arrested the suspect and took him into custody.
 
An investigation into this crash is ongoing.
