San Diego Motorcycle Officer Suffers Serious Injuries after Crash with Vehicle on Rainbow Canyon Road in Temecula

 
TEMECULA, CA (July 4, 2022) – A San Diego Police Department motor sergeant was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on Rainbow Canyon Road on Saturday evening, July 2.
 
The officer, a Temecula resident, was traveling northbound on Rainbow Canyon Road around 8:30 p.m. For unknown reasons, he lost control of his police motorcycle on a right-hand curve in the roadway and crossed the double yellow lines.
 
A male driver of an oncoming pickup truck attempted evasive action but was unable to avoid the crash.
 
As a result, the motorcycle officer suffered major injuries. Paramedics took him to a hospital in an unknown condition.
 
The California Highway Patrol is still looking into what caused the officer to lose control of his motorcycle.
