Teen Riding Scooter Dies after Struck by Vehicle on Don Julio Boulevard in Antelope

 
ANTELOPE, CA (September 24, 2023) – Nathan Daniel Gebreamlak was killed in a scooter accident in Antelope Monday evening on September 18.
 
The fatal accident happened around 10:30 p.m. on Don Julio Boulevard at Poker Lane. According to the California Highway Patrol, Gebreamlak was riding his scooter on the east side of Don Julio and entered the intersection of Poker Lane. For unknown reasons, he rode outside the crosswalk and into the path of a Range Rover, driven by a 50-year-old Antelope man.
 
The SUV struck Gebreamlak, severely injuring him. Paramedics rushed him to Mercy San Juan Hospital, where he later died.
 
The victim was 14 years old from Sacramento, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. He was a student at Antelope High.
 
CHP said the SUV had a green light at the time of the crash.
 
Drugs or alcohol did not play a role in the crash, which is still under investigation.
