Rider Suffers Major Injuries after Colliding with SUV near North Santa Fe Drive in Merced County

 
MERCED COUNTY, CA (February 24, 2022) – A motorcyclist suffered serious injured in a two-vehicle accident near North Santa Fe Drive and West Avenue Two, late Monday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 5:13 p.m. on February 21, just outside the city of Atwater. According to the California Highway Patrol, a man was riding his motorcycle east on North Santa Fe Drive when he collided with a Ford Escape attempting to turn onto West Avenue Two from the left turn lane of westbound North Santa Fe.
 
The impact caused major injuries on the motorcyclist. Officers requested an air ambulance to transport the man to a hospital for proper treatment.
 
Three people in the Ford did not sustain any injuries.
 
At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol was involved. An investigation is underway.
