Police Arrest Hit-and-Run Suspect after Crash in Fairfield Leaving Motorcyclist with Life-Threatening Injuries

 
FAIRFIELD, CA (June 13, 2023) – Lester Hogan Atkinson was arrested in a hit-and-run crash in Fairfield leaving motorcyclist with life-threatening injuries late Wednesday evening last month.
 
The crash happened around 10:50 p.m. on May 31. According to the Fairfield Police Department, the motorcyclist was heading westbound on Highway 12 toward Pennsylvania Avenue. At the same time, Atkinson was driving southbound on Pennsylvania Avenue heading toward the highway.
 
Atkinson ran a red light to make a westbound turn onto the westbound highway when he struck the motorcyclist. After hitting the victim, he fled the scene without rendering aid.
 
The 20-year-old motorcyclist was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.
 
A week later, police located the suspect car in Vallejo and arrested Atkinson. The also found a gun inside his home.
