Misti Clark Killed in Three-Vehicle Accident on Avenue 56 [Porterville, CA]

Corcoran Correctional Officer Dies in Porterville Morning Crash

 
PORTERVILLE, CA (May 21, 2023) – Misti Clark was killed in a three-vehicle accident in Porterville Thursday morning on May 18.
 
The fatal accident happened around 5:00 a.m. on Avenue 56, just west of Road 168. According to the California Highway Patrol, Clark was driving a 2014 Honda westbound on Avenue 56 at an undetermined speed.
 
At the same time, 59-year-old Rodolfo Zamora of Delano was driving a 2011 Freightliner eastbound on Avenue 56 at a stated speed of 40 to 45 miles per hour. He was followed by a 2022 Chevrolet, driven by 61-year-old Antonio Barietagonzalez of Earlimart.
 
Barietagonzalez attempted to pass the Freightliner, utilizing the westbound traffic lane. He observed headlights and attempted to return to the eastbound lane when he crashed into the oncoming Honda.
 
The impact pushed the Chevrolet into the left side of the big rig. It then came to rest on its wheels in a pistachio orchard before becoming engulfed in flames.
 
Barietagonzalez was able to escape the burning vehicle and waited on the shoulder for medical assistance.
 
Sadly, Clark became trapped in the driver seat and died at the scene. She was 39 years old and a Corcoran CDCR officer.
 
Drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
