44-Year-Old Modesto Man Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Semi in Ceres

 
CERES, CA (October 24, 2023)Michael Tucker died in a hit-and-run crash in Ceres early Thursday morning on October 19.
 
The fatal crash happened around 3:10 a.m. along the 1400 block of East Hatch Road near Herndon Avenue, several hundred feet east of Highway 99. According to the Ceres Police Department, the driver of a tractor-trailer big rig struck Tucker who was walking on the roadway.
 
Witnesses told officers the big rig driver stopped and got out of his truck to check on Tucker before getting back behind the wheel and driving away.
 
Tucker died at the scene. He was a 44-year-old Modesto resident, according to the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office.
 
Police described the tractor as red with a gray or silver box trailer. The driver remains at large.
