Police Arrest Hit-and-Run Suspect after Fatally Striking Bicyclist on Freeport Boulevard in Sacramento

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (January 11, 2024)Mattie Olivia Nicholson was killed in a hit-and-run crash near Sacramento’s William Land Park Tuesday night on January 9.
 
The fatal crash happened around 6:00 p.m. on Freeport Boulevard at Potrero Way. According to the Sacramento Police Department, Nicholson was riding her bicycle when a car struck her.
 
After the crash, the driver of the car fled the scene without rendering aid.
 
Responding paramedics rushed Nicholson to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
 
Nicholson was 56 years old, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
 
Police described the suspect car as a gray or silver 2004 GMC Envoy. They also found and identified the driver as a 46-year-old Antonia Fragoso.
 
Fragoso was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on Friday. He faces charges related to vehicular manslaughter, police said.
