Mario Calderas Dies in Crash with Big Rig on Marks Avenue and Lincoln Avenue
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (March 18, 2024) — Mario Calderas died in an accident with a semi-truck on Marks Avenue and Lincoln Avenue.
According to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office, 21-year-old Mario Calderas of Caruthers passed away in the two-vehicle crash. For some reason, the 21-year-old driving northbound proceeded through a stop sign at Marks Avenue and Lincoln Avenue. Subsequently, an eastbound semi-truck with the right-of-way drove through the intersection and collided with Calderas’ Toyota SUV.
Soon after, paramedics responded to the 7:30 a.m. crash to discover that Calderas was thrown from the vehicle during the accident. He was not wearing his seatbelt. In addition, they located the semi-truck in a ditch, where it caught fire.
Fortunately, the semi-truck driver escaped the fire and collision with minor injuries, and Cal Fire put out the blaze. As for Calderas, he passed away at the scene.
Information surrounding what led to the accident was unclear. However, authorities are awaiting toxicology reports.
